Salem Area Mass Transit District is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of Oregon and confirmed by the Oregon State Senate.
Governor-Appointed Board Structure
Following Oregon State Legislative legislation passed in 2019, governance of Cherriots transitioned from elected seats to a governor-appointed Board of Directors. Directors serve four-year terms representing seven subdistricts across Marion and Polk counties.
